Rick Stidham's Bolt
Carvin BBS ID: rick500

This is a very unique, one-of- a-kind Carvin Bolt (more one-of-a-kind than the average Carvin!).  Rick scored this on eBay, from a person who had it custom made in about 2003 with  a 1-piece billet of burl maple, and 5A highly flamed maple neck.  The 1 piece burl blank used to make the body cost $400 and the neck blank $125. It finished with Carvin's cherry sunburst finish, the neck is gloss, with a satin fingerboard. The pickups are Fender vintage Strat set with a 5-way selector, single volume and tone controls, and a non-functioning mini-switch originally installed for future humbucking coil-splitting.  It has Sperzel locking tuners, comes with SKB/Carvin hardshell case.

This is a stunning instrument, a great example of the non-standard builds that Carvin will do.

Here's a very classy 2005 Bolt-T, finished in Classic White on mahogany with maple neck and matching headstock.  It also has a Birdseye maple fingerboard with abalone dots, Wilkinson tremolo, and gold hardware.

After receiving it, David added a pearloid truss rod cover with matches the pickguard very nicely, as well as a cream pickup selector switch cover, and pearl keys for the Sperzel tuners.  Very nice!

Nightrain's Bolt+T Pair
Carvin BBS ID: nightrain

In summer of 2004, Carvin made a move that was welcomed by many of their customers: the return of the early-90's style "pointed" headstock (read more here).  This was a limited-time option, which identically replicated the headstock shape that was use in 1990 and 1991.

And this is one of those special instruments; a 2004 Bolt+T with a reverse-pointed headstock.  It's finished in emerald green on swamp ash, with maple fingerboard, chrome hardware, Wilkinson tremolo and dual humbuckers/single coil pickup configuration.

...and not too long after receiving the green Bolt+, Nightrain ordered this one, and received it in early 2006.   It has a mahogany body with a maple top finished in deep purple.  This one also has the re-issue reverse pointy headstock, which looks great on this Bolt.  Other features include a Birdseye maple fingerboard with black dots on a maple neck, chrome hardware, Straploks and Wilkinson tremolo.  Electronics consist of an M22SD in the bridge with an on/off switch and a C22 in the bridge position.

Another Dragonburst model makes an appearance!  This is a 2006 model, and is the first dragonburst Bolt to be submitted to the site.  It has an alder body with a quilted maple top and matching reverse quilted headstock on a 14" radius maple neck.  It has an ebony fingerboard with medium-jumbo stainless steel frets and abalone dot inlays.  Other features include a black pearloid pickguard, chrome hardware, Wilkinson tremolo, and Dunlop straploks.  Electronics consist of a a C22B in the bridge position, and a pair of AP11 single coils.

Jason Weiss' Bolt

This is a great looking Bolt!  It's finished in translucent Sapphire Blue on swamp ash, with a matching headstock.  Other features include a Birdseye maple fingerboard with jumbo frets, gold hardware, gold logo & white pearloid pickguard.

Jason also has a nice SC90 - see it right here.

Here's Jason's second Bolt (see his former koa-topped swamp ash one below).  This one is also swamp ash, and in this case, finished in sapphire blue.  It's loaded with Twinblade pickups in a pearloid pickguard, a Birdseye maple fingerboard with abalone dot inlays and stainless steel frets, and chrome hardware with a Wilkinson tremolo.

Here's a nice one, that Jason recently replaced with the Bolt-T above.  He says:

"This Bolt Plus was ordered in the spring of 2004 to be my main axe.  Boasting a variety of seldom-seen options, the guitar was named "Annette" in honor of its owner's lovely wife (her middle name).  Features include a standard koa top on swamp ash body, ebony fretboard with no inlays, birdseye maple headstock overlay, H22N and C22B pickup combination, Fishman piezo bridge, smaller diameter dome knobs, and engraved truss rod cover."

Additional photos and soundclips of Annette can be found on Jason's website.

Mike Olson's Bolt Plus C
Carvin BBS ID: Ax

Another fantastic looking Bolt!  Mike's recent model has a swamp ash body finished in blueburst, with a Birdseye maple fingerboard, Floyd Rose tremolo and chrome hardware.

Mike is also an administrator over at Doug Marks' Metal Method site, where Carvin is quite popular, since Doug has been a Carvin endorser for many years.  Swing on by!

Chris' Bolt
Carvin BBS ID: Chunga's Revenge

Here's a very nice Bolt, which Chris bought from Tim Gray.  It's a 2002 model, finished in Pearl Blue with an alder body and maple neck with reverse headstock.  It has two single coil AP11 pickups and a M22SD humbucker (with an on/off switch and a coil splitter).

Drew's Bolt
Carvin BBS ID: PianoMan

This is a very nice looking 2006 model Bolt, with looks that would rival any Strat.  It's finished in Tobacco Sunburst, with a very gradual fade, on alder.  The neck is maple with a gloss finish, and it has a maple fingerboard.  Other features include abalone dot inlays, chrome hardware, and white pearloid pickguard.

Drew says:

"Amazing guitar! This one arrived absolutely flawless from the factory. I thoroughly checked it over several times in the week or two after I got it in the mail, and I couldn't find so much as a tiny scratch or dent. Impressive work!

Also of note is that since receiving the guitar, the mini-switch used for activating the bridge pickup has been removed and replaced with a second tone pot. The original tone pot now controls the tone of the neck pickup, and the new one controls the bridge tone. Much better for my style!"

Prototype Bolt

This unusual Bolt was made by Carvin for the 2003 Winter NAMM show.  It was built with a Floyd Rose Speedloader tremolo, which is essentially a reversed system, similar to a Steinberger trem.  So, with this design, the tuners are actually on the tremolo itself, which is why there are no tuners on the headstock of the guitar.

Despite the prototype being made, the Speedloader tremolo was abandoned by Carvin, and was never added to the list of available options.
