Van's Collection
Carvin BBS ID: Van

Van has really scored with the wood Carvin has used on his guitars.  The selections of koa, flamed koa, walnut, Claro walnut and swamp ash are just superlative, and are excellent representations of the kind of work Carvin's craftsmen are capable of.

Above is Van's newest addition, a 2005 DC145C.  The body and neck are walnut, with a gorgeous Claro walnut top and matching headstock.  Other features include a Floyd Rose tremolo, gold hardware, stainless steel frets, tung-oiled neck, gold Carvin logo and coil splitters and bridge on/off switch on M22SD/AP11/M22N pickups.  The truss rod cover is engraved "Minkey", which is Van's wife's nickname.

This is Van's 2004 CT6M. It's finished in deep triple-step green on quilted maple, with a mahogany body and neck, abalone block inlays, gold hardware and C22B pickups.  The truss rod cover has been updated with "Envy" - very appropriate!

Next up is Van's 2004 Bolt, called "Swamp Thang".  It has a swamp ash body, maple neck, Birdseye maple fingerboard and overlay on the reverse inline headstock, gold Carvin logo, gold hardware, stainless steel frets, graphite string saver saddles, and AP11/AP11R/AP11  pickup configuration.

Van is obviously a fan of koa, and he has an incredible pair of koa guitars to show that.  Above is his 2004 Contour 66, dubbed "Hawaiian Punch".  It has a tung-oiled koa neck, koa body, and flamed koa top with matching V headstock and gold Carvin logo.  Other features include abalone block inlays, stainless steel frets, gold hardware, string saver saddles and coil splitters and bridge on/off switch on a C22B/AP11/C22B pickup configuration.

Below is Van's 2004 Holdsworth HF2 Fatboy.  This one has a very nicely figured mahogany body, mahogany neck with matte satin finish, flamed koa top and headstock, black chrome hardware, and stainless steel frets.  Electronics consist of Holdsworth humbucker pickups with 3-way selector and ,aster volume and tone controls.
